2008 – 2012
I provided interaction design, visual design and front-end coding for 14 business-to-consumer commerce websites. I managed 3-person team responsible for sustaining company branding, design, content editing, and front-end code in collaboration with database and programmers in agile environment.
We started with user research, workflow diagrams and wireframes to build new sites, working with a content management tool built in-house.
Our sites were built on common platforms, and using a custom designed content management tool, which allowed us to build components that were used similarly for all the sites with small visual changes via stylesheet. This was before folks were building design systems and style guides, so this was fairly innovative.
I don’t have many source files from this far back in my career because design tools have changed and sometimes we were working directly in Dreamweaver or BBEdit, pushing our work to a development server, and doing Quality Assurance testing immediately.
